Congrats guys. I’m happy for ya. Maybe next year we will be playing for bowl position, not state bragging rights!
But, what about the Nutter saying “Once a Razorback, always a Razorback!” Sounds like a Tubby move! Hotty Toddy guys!

Buy out clause is so strong that noone could afford to pursue him until after his 4th year. Trust me.

You don’t think you guys have the money?

I think he meant the buyout in his Ole Miss contract.

Well I guess Houston is a Rebel now. Maybe things can get back to normal again and everyone can have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Hope his airplance made safe landing at the Oxford airport. A Marine jet fighter made an emergency landing there once and came to rest mired in a field of mud.
The City of Oxford does not care to change very much with the changing of time, in my opinion.
I worked one summer at the City Grocery Store, when it was a grocery store, to help out with my fall college tuition. Police station next door upstairs.
We also, wish the best for the new coach and his family andcoach O and his family as well. God’s Blessing to all. Jimmy Barbee

Well, Nutt comes with some baggage, but I can’t argue too much about his record. As always, I’ll support the Rebels regardless of the coach. I do think that hiring him will keep our recruiting efforts from tanking. The one good thing about Coach O….he could recruit! Maybe Nutt can coach the good players Coach O has assembled. LB

Hopefully, as soon as Herring is through coaching the hogs in their bowl game he’ll hop the first plane, train or automobile to Oxford.
KEEP COACH FREEZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, keep coach freeze. the rest can go, especially thompson
November 27, 2007 at 9:15 am |
Not flaming on you guys, but what’s the deal with Freeze? Everyone loves him, why?
November 27, 2007 at 10:03 am |
He’s a great recruiter for us in Memphis, and he is our wide receivers coach and look what he’s done with them.
November 27, 2007 at 10:06 am |
He’s a good Christian man with high ideals and deals with everyone very honestly and ethically, which is rare in college sports today. High school recruits seem to love the guy, especially the parents of the recruits. Truth be told, Coach Freeze is probably responsible for a lot of our recruits.
He had a brilliant high school coaching career in Memphis. He has a keen football mind and a very imaginative offensive mind.

Parrish, I hope you have not jumped the gun on this. Nutt’s agent Jimmy Sexton just reported that this deal is not final as of yet. The negotiations are ongoing, but not final. Sexton said the sticking point is assistant coaches’ salaries.

Congrats. Houston Nutt is a good one if you ask me.

Former Arkansas coach will be announced at a noon press conference on Wednesday.
OXFORD, Miss. — University of Mississippi Athletics Director Pete Boone confirmed Tuesday morning that he has reached an agreement with former University of Arkansas head football coach Houston Nutt to become the 36th head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels.
The Ole Miss position became available after three-year head coach Ed Orgeron was notified last Saturday that he would not be retained.
A formal press conference to officially announce the hiring of Coach Nutt is scheduled for Wednesday at noon at the Indoor Practice Facility on campus

You can say Scruggs plane was in Jackson but I think the evidence shows those planes do not always go where they are logged. Nutt met with a host of Rebel management and close Alumni (Scruggs and others) last night until the deal had been hashed out. He spent last night at the home of Scruggs and had bacon and eggs with wheat toast for breakfast. Anything else you wanna know?

Next year when we beat Mississippi, will it be “croomed” (another trophy for Sly Croom to hang on his wall).
November 27, 2007 at 1:33 pm |
LOL, mad dawg, I love cocky MSU fans like yourself. It’s always great the year after we get beat when we come back and knock you guys off your high horse.
November 27, 2007 at 2:35 pm |
No, not a high horse; just say on top of the lowly rebels.

Good call. Houston needs to stay in the SEC. Old Miss could use a new face and a fresh approach. This can only raise the level of SEC teams against the rest.
It may be a Tubby call as mentioned
