South Panola star Tig Barksdale is listed as a verbal commitment to Ole Miss but sounds like he’s wavering and giving strong consideration to Mississippi State.
DJ: What do you like about State?
TIG: I like everything about State.
DJ: So what positives do you see in Ole Miss?
TIG: All the same things. I just like both of them.
Well, with signing day set for Feb. 6, you can’t go on liking both of them forever. However, Barksdale says there is no timetable presently for him to make a final call. He is scheduled to take his ACT in February. South Panola coach Lance Pogue has given Barksdale a decent chance to qualify.
Barksdale, a four-star prospect by Scout.com, is listed as a defensive back by many of the recruiting services, but he dominated most defenses this season and, at Ole Miss and presumably other schools, would get a first look at tailback.
He is scheduled to make an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend. He has also shown interest in Alabama and Missouri.

Whats the deal with this is Nutt not pursuing them hard or what? Seems like all of the Panola boys were all committed and for sure coming.

The thing is that Pegues is pulling hard for Barksdale BECAUSE he’s scared he won’t get a serious look at RB if Enrique Davis commits which is a strong possiblility. I just hope that it doesn’t blow up in our face and we lose both.

I think Pegues is working him hard. Hopefully Nutt will at least get Tig or Davis out of this deal.

the NCAA needs to change the ruled so that once a recruit commits to one school, he cannot visit another. Unless, of course, one changes his mind to come to ole miss

Tig looks like an athletic playmaker, but with an attitude & style similiar to Pegeus and the grades suited for JC. He was not given a lot of credit in the papers for running behind SPU’s line. I hope he signs, but there are a few more valuable recruits out there. Espn has a couple of in-state guys ahead of him, and there are several undecided in Ole Miss “territory” from the ClarionLedger’s top list. Looks like our biggest scavenger threat may be Southern, not Ms State, and our former coaches.
Thanks for the update PA. This is, of course, the most important type of sports info thru signing day.

Deandre Brown a sleeper? I don’t think that’s what you call a 4/5 star recruit thats the number 1 highschool player in the state.

Bcash,
You’re correct. My point is this, the high school all star game that I watched on NBC did not give him alot of ink but he looked like TO or RM.It was like men against boys.Julio Jones gets all the ink,Brown is the sleeper.PA is on the money,Brown is a difference maker, both to your recruiting class and on the field.
