FYI: Good show on SEC Beat later today

May 13, 2008

I just got back from taping radio. Today I’ve got Mike Bianco on the front half of the SEC Beat with Mississippi State coach Ron Polk on the back half. The shows airs on WAJS-FM (91.7) at 4:30 p.m.

Mike talks about what the Rebels need to do to have success against Kentucky and what he thinks their chances are to reach the NCAA tournament if they don’t get to the SEC tournament.

Polk ends a remarkable run this weekend. I’ll be covering in Starkville because Gregg Ellis will be away on a few vacation days. He had a Yankee Stadium trip planned before Polk announced his retirement at the end of this season.

It was fun reflecting on several topics with Polk, who I think has probably gained the respect of more Ole Miss fans than has a coach of any other MSU sport. That’s the feeling I get in talking with people.

I let Polk steer conversation a little bit, and as you might imagine, we discussed the NCAA.

With two head coaches, the whole show was a lot of fun.

Here’s the WAJS link.
