BASEBALL: Lance Lynn update

MRI results for Ole Miss pitcher Lance Lynn came back clean. His knee injury sustained while covering home plate in the first game at Kentucky was believed to be minor, and further study revealed no surprises.

Lynn will pitch the SEC tournament opener against regular season champ Georgia unless there are unforseen complications from the knee.

Georgia has announced it will start relief pitcher Nick Montgomery (2-1, 4.66), a right-hander. Montgomery has thrown 38 2-3 innings and has given up more home runs (5) than anyone else in Georgia’s bullpen.

Opponents are batting .250 against him.

He pitched in the Saturday game when Ole Miss was in Athens, a 9-4 Rebels win. Montgomery lasted 2-3 of an inning giving up four hits and four runs, all earned.

Should there be something done about the “non-grass” area behind the plate that caused Lynn to slip? I have seen it several ballparks and what happened to Lynn was very unnecessary.

Yeah and that batting practice he was throwing was unnecassary to.

I think it hurt his pride more then his knee. Just sayin………

I kinda like our chances ag. Georgia.

    1. Bianco’s teams the past few years have been good tourney teams.
    2. Ga. has lost a little focus since their hot streak.

It’s a bigger park, and that should help the Rebels keep Gordon Beckham’s bombs in play.

I forsee another Ricky Bowen or Taylor Thompson performance from the opposing pitcher Wednesday night.

  7. bigdraws Says:

Watch out what you ask for Nate. Bowen was sharp this weekend. The last two runs weren’t all his fault, and the 3 in the second were attrubuted to walks.

  8. rebelnate Says:

No draws I was talking about when he almost no-hit Ole Miss earlier in the season and so did Taylor Thompson of Auburn.

  9. Jimmy Barbee Says:

Nate, see where Matt Tolbert’s been put on the 15-day disable list.

  10. rebelnate Says:

Hard to play through injuries since they banned HGH

  11. Jimmy Barbee Says:

Maybe Ole Miss could take a “Spice Girl” over for Beckham. Something about “Spice Girl and Beckham” ring a bell!

    Huh?

  13. bigdraws Says:

    Oh, I gotcha.
