BASEBALL: Settled in at Dudy Noble

No in-game blog for this one. Post your Ole Miss updates below as you get them. The lineups have just been announced here. State is pitching NASCAR driver Ricky Bowen, who nearly no-hit the Rebels back on the opening SEC weekend. Bowen is 3-6 and has walked 37 and fanned 57 in 67 innings.

The numbers aren’t good, but his performance against Ole Miss — and many others like it — are looming large for the Rebels right now.

Not many folks in attendance on this, the first night of Ron Polk’s final weekend.

Not a good start for the Rebels I see. Cats get two off Lance Lynn in the first with a double and an RBI single. Cats 2-0 in the second. Better start here for Bowen who strikes out the side in the first.

Arkansas has figured Ricky Bowen much quicker than Ole Miss did. 3-run home run by Brett Eibner, and the Hogs lead 3-0 in the second.

Rebels down 5-2. Looks like Lynn is getting rocked. Probably won’t be pushing the Bittle Button tonight.

Lynn went 3 1-3. Cats up 8-2. Not the start to the weekend the Rebels needed.

Dogs up 4-3 here. They hit Arkansas righty Justin Wells pretty good in the third. The scary thing is now they have to pitch it.

Apparently Lynn was injured on a play at home plate when he left the game. Word is he’ll have an MRI on his knee tomorrow.

    10-3 Cats after 7 complete.

Lynn slipped behind home plate picking up a passed throw. The grass was wet, he slipped, knee buckled. It didn’t look to be a serious injury, but who knows…. I sure hope it’s not serious.

Those can end up being torn ACL’s. Hopefully, it was nothing serious.

Well, on the bright side, Tennessee beat South Carolina.

If Ole Miss can salvage one win this series, we’ll be ok IMO.

12-4 final. We need to pick up a win along with UT picking up another win over USC.

I don’t think the rebs lost any ground though.

Hey Draws, think State’s got another win or two in them? They played well last night.

I thought Bowen pitched real good. The walks got him in trouble, but other than that he looked sharp. Who knows about tonight? But I think the Saturday will be very winnable with Pigott on the mound. The balls sure were sailing out of the yard last night. I looked for ya last night. I was sitting right under the press box.

  12. bigdraws Says:

    real well.
