    First Inning
    Ole Miss
Henry infield single. … Fuller Smith sharp single to RF. … Logan Power bunts both runnerfs over. … Overbeck goes down in count 0-2 then on a 1-2 count singles sharp to LF to score both runners. Ole Miss leads 2-0. … Clutch hit for Overbeck. Clutch hits have been hard to come by lately. … Guerrero pops to second. 2 outs. … Matt Smith … has fanned 63 times this year, a strikeout every 3 at-bats. … down in count 1-2 here. … K swinging. 3 outs.

    2 runs, 3 hits, 0 errors, 1 LOB
    Ole Miss 2-0

    Georgia
Peisel Ks looking. … Olson goes 3-2 and singles up the middle. … Beckham … has almost as many RBIs (57) As Matt Smith has strikeouts. … Count goes 2-1,and Beckham gets off a good swing, but the big park helps as Henry runs it down in RF, and Olson stays at first. 2 outs. … Massanari Ks looking at a change-up. 3 outs.

    0 runs, 1 hit, 0 errors, 1 LOB

    Ole Miss 2, Georgia 0

  2. djrebel Says:

    Second Inning
    Ole Miss
Miller grounds to Beckham, who makes a diving stop. Guy can play defense too. 1 out. … Ferguson pops to Beckham on second pitch. 2 outs. … Basham Ks swinging. 3 outs.

    Ole Miss 2, Georgia 0

Alabama fans are starting to trickle in thinking their game will begin at 8. It’s 7:18 now, so it probably won’t.

    Georgia
O’Bryan grounds to Ferguson at short. 1 out. … Allen grounds to Matt Smith at first. Smith makes the tag. 2 outs. … I knock on Matt Smith a bit for his strikeouts, but he is an excellent interview and a very pleasant young man. He’s extremely athletic, and I still think big things are in store for him when he further adjusts to college ball. … Count goes 1-2 on Lewis who Ks looking. Third strikeout for Lynn. 3 outs.

    Ole Miss 2, Georgia 0

  3. djrebel Says:

    Third Inning
    Ole Miss

Henry flies to LF. 1 out. … Fuller Smith doubles to RF corner. Makes it in standing. … Logan Power singles to third on first pitch. Peisel makes a nice play deep on the infield but can’t get Power. Smith does not advance. … Overbeck with 1 out. … Would be a good time for a clutch hit. Overbeck had one in his last at-bat, that chore may fall to Guerrero with 2 outs. … Overbeck quickly in the hole 0-2 then hits into 4-6-3 double play. 3 outs. … Guerrero won’t get the chance.

    0 runs, 2 hits, 1 LOB

    Ole Miss 2, Georgia 0

    Georgia
Cerione Ks swinging. Basham holds a foul tip. 1 out. … Thoms on a 1-2 count grounds to Overbeck. 2 out. … Top of the order gets another look at Lynn now. … Peisel singles to short. Ferguson makes a stop deep on the infield going toward third but had no play. … 1 on 2 outs for Olson. … It would be good to get Olson and not have Beckham come up with two runners on. … 1-2 count. … Lots of throws over to first trying to keep Peisel close. … Olson … count goes 2-2 after he takes a curve that really looked like a strike from up here. … 3-2 to Olson and a walk. There were two foul balls, an interesting one in which a kid leaned over and made contact with Logan Power. Logan ran a long way for that ball and not sure he’d have made the catch, but clearly there was a problem. … Beckham … fastball strike, ball high, big swing by Beckham at a fastball, count 1-2, ball 2, low fastball in the dirst, great stop by Basham, … Beckham flied to RF in his last at-bat, best swing off Lynn so far…. this time he looks at a curve ball, strike 3. 3 outs.

    Ole Miss 2, Georgia 0

  4. rebel1426 Says:

Lynn pitch count is high maybe he can give us a few more innings

  5. m4rebs Says:

Do you think it was fair or foul PA? Kellum said he would have called it foul if someone had a gun to his head. Never-the-less, round-tripper.

  6. rebel1426 Says:

It was foul. We will take it though.

  7. djrebel Says:

    Fourth Inning
    Ole Miss

Guerrero just hit a leadoff home run while I was coming back from the restroom. Georgia coach Dave Perno argued, and the replay really looked like the hit was foul. It is possible the call was that the ball left the park fair and then turned, but it didn’t look like that to me. … Matt Smith Ks swinging, No. 2 on the night, No. 65 on the year. … Ferguson goes 1-1 and flies to RF. 2 out. … Lefty Alex McRee is warming up for Georgia. He has a 4.05 ERA in 40 IP. … Basham Ks swinging on 3 pitches. 3 outs.

    1 hit (debatable), 1 run

    Ole Miss 3, Georgia 0

    Georgia
Massanari walks on 5 pitches, many of them not close. 2nd walk allowed by Lynn. … O’Bryan count goes 2-2 then goes full … grounder to Ferguson, 6-4-3 DP. 2 outs. Ferguson was cheating toward second, and the ball was hit right to him. … Allen Ks and Basham throws to first for the out.

New pitcher for Georgia is McRee. He pitched 2-3 of an inning against Ole Miss in Athens and gave up no hits but one run. He’s a lefty.

    Ole Miss
Henry pops out in LF foul territory. 1 out. … Fuller Smith Ks swinging. 2 outs. … Power taps to the mound. 3 outs.

    Ole Miss 3, Georgia 0

  8. djrebel Says:

    Bottom 5th
    Georgia
Bottom of the order to face Lynn.
Lewis flies to RF. 1 out. … Cerione Ks looking at a curve. 2 outs. … Thoms Ks swinging, the 8th strikeout for Lynn. 3 outs.

  9. stillmagnolia Says:

Lance seems to be in control tonight. He needs to have a good bottom of the 6th (top of the order) and then finnish the 7th. Scott can then close this one. A few more runs wouldn’t hurt. Go Rebs.

  10. djrebel Says:

    Sixth Inning
    Ole Miss
McRee had an easy inning in the fifth, and this one gets off to a fast start as Overbeck grounds to short on the first pitch. 1 out. … Guerrero flies to RF quickly. 2 outs. … Matt Smith hits the ball to the wall and it’s caught by CF Cerione, who hits the wall and is knocked out. … Medical staff is attending. 3 outs.

Cerione is sitting up now. Cerione is standing now. He is walking off now with a training staff member on each arm.

That would have been Matt Smith’s 13th home run in most SEC parks, but it’s a great player by Cerione here. I hope he remembers it tomorrow.

TV is reporting that Cerione hit a beam behind the wall.

Looks like Mike Bianco is going to try not to push the Bittle Button tonight. Rory McKean to the bullpen for Ole Miss.

I guess McKean was just jogging for kicks. He’s back in the dugout now.

Going to the Bottom of the sixth now

    Georgia
Top of the order. … Peisel … count goes 3-1, Lynn’s not hitting spots like he was early in the game. … sharp single to LF. … Hardest safe hit off Lynn tonight. … Bianco’s going to the mound. … Bittle’s going to the pen. … Olson Ks swinging. 1 out. … Beckham’s up. … His third trip and runners have been on base each time including now. … Count goes 3-0 … walks on 4 pitches. … Massanari … 1-0, 5 straight balls. … 1-1 … 1-2 … 2-2 and K swinging. … O’Bryan … 2 HRs this year. … count 2-0 … 2-1 then single to RF. … Peisel scores. … Beckham to third. … 3-1. … Henry had a play at the plate, but he bobbled the ball. … No error is charged. … Runners at the corners for Allen. … Allen flies to LF on first pitch 3 outs.

They’re getting better swings at Lynn. Bittle is warm or getting there. It will be interesting to see what Bianco choose to do in the seventh with the bottom of the order coming up.

Rebels could help themselves with a few runs.

    Ole Miss 3, Georgia 1

  11. djrebel Says:

    7th Inning
    Ole Miss

Miller … count 1-2 then … fouls off several pitches but Ks swinging. 1 out. … Ferguson singles on the first pitch, opposite way, to RF. … First hit off McRee, who sat down the first seven men he faced. … Basham pops to short. 2 outs. … Henry … count goes 1-2 then slaps a single over short and into shallow LF. He did that a whole lot last season. … Fuller Smith grounds to second on first pitch. 3 outs.

    0 runs, 2 hits, 2 LOB

    Ole Miss 3, Georgia 1

    Georgia
Lynn is coming back out. Bittle’s back in the pen. Georgia will send out the 7-8-9 hitters.

Pinch-hitting for Lewis is Miles Starr …. He’s batting .143 this season. … Bunts foul on first pitch. … Ks looking. 1 out. … Adam Fuller … his first at-bat as Cerione’s replacement. … He’s hitting .167 on the year, 1 HR. … count goes 3-1 then 3-2 walks. … Top of the order. … Peisel. … 2-for-3 with 2 singles, the last one a pretty good rip. … Bianco’s coming out of the dugout, and that’s all for Lynn. …

Bittle will start with the top of the order.

Best game I’ve seen from Lynn in a while. 1 run, 4 hits, 12 strikeouts, 4 walks. The runner at first is his responsibility.

Peisel … has seven HRs this season. Bittle’s given up 2. … This is an unsuaul situation for Bittle, who just had the longest out of his college career going 7 1-3 innings last Saturday. … Count goes 1-2, then 2-2, cutter misses. … Crane steals second uncontested. … ball 3 low. …. 3-2 then ball 4. Walk. … 2 on, 2 outs for Olson, who is 1-for-2 with a single and a walk. … Beckham is on deck. … Olson goes 1-0 then hits lazy fly to left. 3 outs.

    Ole Miss 3, Georgia 1

  12. bigdraws Says:

I thought they had a quick hook on Lynn tonight. 2 out walk and he gets pulled.

  13. djrebel Says:

    Eighth Inning
    Ole Miss
McRee still pitching for Georgia. There’s a right-hander in the pen.

Power … count goes 3-2 then walks. … Overbeck hard hit to third, Peisel makes a diving stab and gets Power at second. 1 out. … He just saved at least a double and a run. … Guerrero hard smash but right at Allen in left. 2 outs. … Matt Smith … some hard hits off McRee now. … Smith singles up the middle, and Overbeck gets to third, though it wasn’t pretty as he tripped coming around second. When I played high school football we’d have said the turf monster almost got him, just came out of the ground with that hand and tripped him up. … Looks like that’s hit for McRee. …

Looks like McRee is staying in the game, and we’ll see if Zach Miller has a clutch hit in him. A run would be huge.

Miller … count goes 1-0 then a dribbler to third. Peisel could have thrown him out twice, but once is sufficient. 3 outs.

    Ole Miss 3, Georgia 1

    Georgia
Beckham is leading off. First time tonight the SEC home run leader will bat with no one on base. He’s 0-for-2 with a walk.

If Bittle can get through this inning without a struggle, he’ll have the bottom of the order for the ninth.

Beckham … count goes 0-2, 1-2, then 2 foul balls, then swinging K. 1 out. … Massanari … count goes 1-2, then single down the RF line, he just stuck the bat out and it made contact. Big innings have started from less, but there wasn’t a lot of skill in that hit. … O’Bryan… 1-2 count, high chopper to Matt Smith, who leaps and makes a great play, then beats O’Bryan to the bag. 2 outs. … Massanari to second. … Allen count goes 0-2 then K swinging. 3 outs.

    0 runs, 1 hit, 1 LOB

    Ole Miss 3, Georgia 1

  14. bigdraws Says:

    congrats on the win guys.

  15. m4rebs Says:

That was a big win for us tonight. Thanks for the congrats Draws. The question now is, how much did it take out of us? Regardless of what happens in the next game, they aren’t going to be near as rested as us, but that doesn’t always mean much – I think we finished around 1:30 last year on Wednesday night, then turned around beat UT the next night really late, so who knows. I agree with you though PA, why do they wait so late to start things off?

  16. george devaughn Says:

draws you are the only one to pick us to won on gregs site thanks bud

  17. george devaughn Says:

    to win sorry guys

  18. Jay Stokes Says:

16 of 27 outs by strikeout……..that’s what i’m talking about! amazing game from lance tonight…..

it would be nice to pick up another win tomorrow and have friday off. not sure who the starting pitcher will be, but i like our chances…

    Go Rebs

  19. george devaughn Says:

pa get a good nite sleep tonight its going to be a late nite tommorw nite but ill be up with you

  20. george devaughn Says:

    go rebs

  21. djrebel Says:

Sorry I couldn’t be with you guys at the end, but we lost the connection here at Regions Park.

Big win for the Rebels. It should be a big lift come bid day on Monday. Anything else they can accomplish here would be a boost as well.

George, thanks for the well wishes. Seems like I can’t avoid that late game completely.

    — PA

  22. Jeff Jolly Says:

Left the Bama game after the 1st inning tied 2-2. It was about 11:30. I’ll be surprised if they finish before 2 am.

15 strikeouts by Lynn and Bittle. The umpire seemed to be squeezing the strike zone. There were several pitches called balls that I have seen called strikes most of the year. Would have been many more strikeouts.

The Rebels looked good in the field tonight except one play late in the game when a ball up the middle should have at least been a diving catch by Miller….then a bobble by Henry….and missed the cut off man and Bittle was not backing up third as he should have been. But that seemed to be the only bad play of the game.

We had a good crowd tonight. Hope it will be better tomorrow night.

  23. VA Reb Says:

Maybe we’re hitting one of those “winning streaks” that the Rebs have pulled off this season. Go Rebs! And, thanks PA for the great updates. Larry

  24. djrebel Says:

Draws, I’m going to disagree with you on pulling Lynn too quick. One, he was starting to miss his spots, and Georgia was starting to get off better swings.

But the thing is, Scott Bittle is this team’s MVP by a wide shot. He is football 2003’s Eli Manning. Hands down. The problem is as a pitcher he can’t get in the game every day.

The Rebels may have been playing for an NCAA bid last night. They need any wins they can get over here, but they especially didn’t need to let a chance to beat such a good RPI opponent slip away.

    — PA

  25. bigdraws Says:

That’s fine. I had to listen to it, and could not watch. So I had to go by what Kellum was saying. Kellum is what he is, but the colorman has got some newfound cockiness about him. Never heard that out of him before last night.

  26. rebelnate Says:

Lynn was up at about the 120 pitch count I would imagine.

PA what is your hunch on who Bianco will throw tonight?
Drew got rocked Friday against Kentucky and I wouldn’t mind seeing him throw Bucvich tonight to change things up a bit.

I thought we played a pretty complete game last night.

What was your thought on the HR?

  27. bigdraws Says:

Kellum said it was definatly foul.

  28. rebelnate Says:

That is what I thought to watching on t.v

  29. rebelnate Says:

Good thing about it, it did not dictate the outcome.

  30. djrebel Says:

I thought it was foul, and it wasn’t even close. The only thing I could think was that the ump may have ruled it left the park fair, but I didn’t really think it was close enough even for that call.

It was good to see Guerrero get off some good swings last night, though. He hit a ball in the eighth that was a smash but was right at the left fielder.

    — PA

  31. bigdraws Says:

Didn’t he also hit a long one just foul to right-field?

  32. rebelnate Says:

I think he could have a tourmanent like Mark Wright had a couple of years ago.

  33. bigdraws Says:

I wonder how the young man from GA is feeling this morning. Sounded like the wall cold-cocked him. Fla up 1-0
