got a gut feeling for tonight’s game being there at the ballpark?

John, my first thought is similar to Nate’s below in that I think it won’t be easy for James Paxton to duplicate the success he had in the seven-hit shutout last weekend.

But …. I go back to this inconsistent offense. They had seven hits off him last time. You mix an error and walk in there somewhere, and you at least score. You can’t force either of those things, but I believe there’s no shame in certain hitters trying to coerce a walk, the same way you’d call on certain hitters to bunt.

Pomeranz has struggled lately. I talked with Mike about that during the week. He said mechanically he couldn’t see anything Pomeranz was doing or not doing. The guy was so dominant in those three earlier games that you know it’s in him. The bigger park here can save a pitcher from a mistake from time to time.

I think the Ole Miss bullpen is in good shape. If they can score a few runs, and if Pomeranz doesn’t blow up I think they’ll have a good chance.

I like the way they were swining last night, but they weren’t swinging against Georgia’s front-line pitching.

Kentucky’s approach at the plate will be to be patient, take the count deep and get the starter out by the 5th – we should do the same. Drew must throw strikes and must get ahead.

I think that we should leave this game startegy, decision making, and game plans up to Coach Bianco, since he is still the boss. Drew has proved himself worthly before, so, why not in tonight’s game. This could be his night. There’s still a bit of arm left in Scott Bittle, should he be needed.

I think it is our tournament to lose now. Pitching will be in great shape and the bats are starting to get hot.

What is your point? Don’t question coaches even though we have scored less runs than anyone else in the tournament, have the lowest batting average, the fewest walks, and hit into more double plays? Something ain’t right and I get a little frustrated with our lack of plate discipline.

cr have you had a good trip to Hoover the last couple of days?

  8. Jimmy Barbee Says:

We can discuss the Rebels all we wish to do, but Coach Bianco is the one that running the show. They are his responsibility.

Hopefully, they can hang on and win this tournment. If I am reading the bracket corrrectly, the winner of todays game between SC and Vandy, will have to beat the Rebs twice tomorrow. This also applies to LSU in their run.

I thought OM would play the winner of bama/ky.

They are flip flopping the bracket this year draws.
