Do remember this past basketball season, the baseball season, not going to spoil my off-shore fishing trip this week-end thinking about Ole Miss upcoming football season. Definitely do not want to get so depressed out there and leap overboard with hungry sharks.

  4. Rebelgator Says:

Can’t wait to see that new 6 million dollars scoreboard that they are putting up. P.A. according to the olemisssports cite the board will be the biggest in the SEC does that include that mother of all boards in Fayettville?

  5. djrebel Says:

I saw that claim. I’ll be interested to see if it is. The Arkansas board is pretty cool.

I’ve never seen Arky’s but Auburn’s is phenominal. I sat all the way across the stadium and could see it like I was in my living room. Rumor is, whomever builds theirs first (OM & ST) will be outdone by the person who waits.

Isn’t it a little early to be listing Snead as an all-star candidate when he hasn’t played a down of meaningful football since high school? I agree that all the others deserve the attention, but I think saying that about Snead is asking for trouble.

  8. jcdawgman18 Says:

Now granted, Snead may be great, but I’m just saying.

  9. boonevillereb Says:

Pre-season listings are just that, nothing more. I do think Snead has all the tools to be an all-star player, what I’m not sure about is if it will happen this season.

  10. Jimmy Barbee Says:

jcdawg, do agree, I keep remembering those Rebel pre-season all-star baseball players. The start at #4 national rating. The baseball season didn’t pan out as though. Just hope the football season better than basketball and baseball.

  11. Jimmy Barbee Says:

breb, thought you to be a watermellon man, rather that mushmelon/canteloup.

  12. boonevillereb Says:

JB, I don’t like any of the melon group. I love me some apples, oranges, grapes, and bananas though.

  13. bigdraws Says:

A man doesn’t like “melons” but he doe’s like “grapes” and “bananas”. Hmmmmm.

  14. boonevillereb Says:

Ahh come on draws, nothing dirty about that. At least not that the public needs to know about!

  15. djrebel Says:

JCdawgman, why not hype a Texas signee and player?

You have a very valid point that Mr. Snead has much to prove on the field, but I’ll give him a far better chance to succeed than Brent Schaeffer.

Snead has taken care of his academics. He’s been in the program and has already won the respect of his teammates. He won’t be just meeting his wide receivers, a pretty good group, on the day that practice starts. He has already been developing chemistry with that group and will continue through the summer.

Snead is a worthwhile risk for a preseason all-star mention.

Maybe he’s an all-star in the end, maybe not. But right now he’s got name recognition that gets Ole Miss folks excited. I think the function of preseason all-star hype anyway is just to get the fans talking until September when they can complain about or celebrate the previous week’s game.
