How long has Colt David been at LSU? It seems like he has been there FOREVER.

  2. Jimmy Barbee Says:

Its certainly good taste for that one that did vote for Ole Miss.

  3. akrebel84 Says:

PA, why do you think that mike wallace did not get picked for either of the teams?

  4. djrebel Says:

AK, receiver is a position where there are a lot of athletes, a lot of players who also had good numbers, and it’s just hard to vote for a skill player off last year’s Ole Miss offense.

  5. dawgintheswamp Says:

Exactly what taste is that JB? Ignorance? Foolishness? Stupidity?

  6. Jeff Jolly Says:

    PA,
How many Rebel fans read or comment on Greg Ellis’ blog? I just wondered. They all seem to be commenting on this blog. It must be lonely over there. I’ve never seen it…no reason to. Just wondered.

  7. bigdraws Says:

Not many just JB and tcfan. Get used to it Jolly. We’re eeeeeeeeeverywheeeeeeere!!! MWAAHAHAHAHAAAA!!

  8. bigdraws Says:

Yeah that’s about right two bloggers. About the same number over here.

  9. BirdZ! Says:

    Don’t you mean Gregg?

  10. Braves Dawg Says:

I’d be mad too if my team generated this little excitement.

  11. 03Rebel Says:

Wallace should get even more praise for his #’s with last years “O”.
I’m surprised P. Jerry was not on the Defense list, but who cares about Pre-season praise. I doubt any writers outside of Mississippi know more than the players names at The U.

JJ, what is this Ellis’ blog about? Does the journal have another sports related blog, maybe HS athletics?

  12. bigdraws Says:

    Very original 03!! (sarcasm on)

  13. bigdraws Says:

I checked it out 03. It’s about MSU sports…Much like this one.

  14. BirdZ! Says:

03, there’s a lot of interesting stuff on there. Stuff about bowl games, NCAA basketball tourney, really big jumbotrons, etc…

Not much baseball stuff, though. Maybe next year. (where have I heard that before?)

Seriously though, we just like to talk sports and have a little fun in the process.

  15. BirdZ! Says:

Hey PA, back to the topic at hand, why no third team for the Media?

  16. Jimmy Barbee Says:

Braves, first time that I have seen you over here, welcome to the club. I take off and go to EM Club at Eglin for the buffett and a fuss breaks out here. Had a great lunch, Seafood day. $7.00 each for me and Sgt Maj. Not bad price.

  17. Jeff Jolly Says:

This blog reminds me of a time several years ago…during the prop 48 era…a msu fan walked into a coffee shop and sat down with me and another Ole Miss fan. He declared that Ole Miss had signed 4 prop 48 players and he thought it was a shame. I asked him how many msu had signed. He replied, I don’t know. I told him to go find out…then come back and complain about how many Ole Miss had signed. Turns out, MSU had signed twice the number Ole Miss had signed. He never mentioned it again. It just seems that msu fans always know more about what Ole Miss is doing than they do their own school.

  18. bigdraws Says:

How does this remind you of that Jolly? Or are you just making stuff up so you could tell that story?

  19. bigdraws Says:

“It just seems that msu fans always know more about what Ole Miss is doing than they do their own school.”

You may be right about that. It’s rammed into our heads like a linebacker hitting Green-Ellis on 4th and one. No way to avoid it.

  20. dawgintheswamp Says:

“You may be right about that. It’s rammed into our heads like a linebacker hitting Green-Ellis on 4th and one. No way to avoid it.”

And that my friends is classic an instant classic

  21. BirdZ! Says:

Well, draws, swamp, I guess all us State fans need to cancel our subscriptions to the Daily Mississippian, so we won’t have so much knowledge of Ole Miss.

  22. dawgintheswamp Says:

Jolly if we (MSU Fans) just went by what Ole Miss fans told us, heck there wouldn’t even be a reason for us to worry about even playing. They would just give Ole Miss the SEC champioship and let it be done. Ole Miss Fans are such dang HOMERS that we have to keep up with it to get any realistic information.

  23. bigdraws Says:

Even if you don’t give it to em. They’ll prolly hang a banner claiming victory anyways.

  24. tcfan Says:

lol…I’ve posted like maybe 5-10 times on that site.

If Ole Miss fans believed everything the newspapers told us about Mississippi State, we might as well set our TiVo to early January to see them in the national championship.

The ClaionLedger is going Croom Crazy!!

  25. bigdraws Says:

tcfan, seriously dude. Can you not tell when somebody’s pulling your chain?

  26. dawgintheswamp Says:

    Draws
” tcfan, seriously dude. Can you not tell when somebody’s pulling your chain?”

    tcfan
“that explains why the light has been going on and off”

  27. BirdZ! Says:

The CL’s beat writer for MSU is an Ole Miss graduate. Just Sayin’

  28. tcfan Says:

    BigDraws, my bad. lol.

BirdZ.. there’s a stir all over the OM msg boards about how the CL has extensive coverage on MSU’s Media Day and has like a few articles on Ole Miss’s. It’s obvious the CL is favorable to Croom and MSU over OM, and as much as I agree to cover Mississippi State, since they are MS’s newspaper (or so they claim), they should cover OM and State like al.com covers Auburn and Alabama, very fair and equally.

There’s a reason why Tishomingo County doesn’t offer CL newspapers to their residents.

  29. bigdraws Says:

It’s all in good fun tcfan. Here I’d like to present you with something.

  30. bigdraws Says:

    Please come visit.

  31. 03Rebel Says:

The CL’s MSU writer does a great job, like AP. But like Bird pointed out, he got a great education. I forget the previous UM writer for the CL, but seems like he was there forever and did a decent job.

I believe both papers definitely put a positive spin on State college athletics, at least in the headlines. PA mentioned Journal headlines are decided by the higher-ups, so I wont put all the blam on this Ellis person.

Could you imagine the impact of having our players in an oncampus shooting or jumping a cop? I bet it would get even more headlines than stealing pillows. The infamous pillow incident was written about again just this week. Wonder if Sylbester fielded any questions about the shooting?

  32. tcfan Says:

I don’t have a problem with how PA and GE covers DJ sports. They both do a great job. My problem is with the CL. I barely even look anymore though, and the majority I hear is from other Rebel fans complaining.

  33. bigdraws Says:

I hear ya tc. That’s the way the dawg fans were with Rick Cleveland.

  34. dawgintheswamp Says:

03 this “Ellis person” has a name and it’s GREGG, please refer to him correctly.

  35. BirdZ! Says:

03, I think it’s a case of a lot of fans thinking the other team gets more coverage. It’s prolly about 50/50. They do the best they can to give equal coverage.

Like the DJ explained last season, depending on game time, opponent, and even location, more coverage may be given to one team over the other. An 11:30 am Ole Miss game is gonna have more coverage in the Sunday paper than an 8:30 pm MSU game.

  36. 03Rebel Says:

    That’s Kingg Gregg to you.

  37. BirdZ! Says:

    LOL, good one 03!!

  38. dawgintheswamp Says:

    I’ll give you that one

  39. John Says:

This is why I rarely bother to look at “Replies” anymore. When I saw that there were thirty-something replies, I couldn’t help but look thinking somebody might be discussing SEC football, but it’s all back-and-forth nonsense. I will try to remember to stick to reading PA’s and ignoring the “Replies.”

  40. djrebel Says:

Hey guys. We just got back in town. Birdz, I don’t no why there is no third team on the media’s preseason All-SEC team. That deal is run by the SEC office. We’re just presented ballots. Not everyone votes. Out of over 700 in attendance there were only 70-some odd ballots turned in.

Personally, I think the team should have 4 DLs and 3 LBs since most people run a 4-3 or some variation of it.

awww, john, we’re just trying to keep things interesting around here. But, since you don’t wanna have any fun, stay away from the comments.

  42. Braves Dawg Says:

    Tom, is that you?

  43. Jimmy Barbee Says:

    Hey Braves, nice see ya.

I haven’t seen any of these posted subject stayed with on the subject. Just a way to carry on BS

JC, think LSU keeps some of their player into senior citizen status, and that goes for the Gators as well.

  45. BirdZ! Says:

John, I got something for ya.

John, not sure that you should go there.
