FOOTBALL: A few Wednesday tid-bits

An MRI performed on the Achilles of left guard Reid Neely came back negative, and Neely is expected to be practicing again in four or five days. … Senior Darryl Harris has taken over at left guard in Neely’s absence, and Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt says the first unit has begun to gel. … There will be depth when Neely returns, but it may be Neely providing it. It’s always tough when a guy loses a spot because of injury, but Nutt implied that could happen. … Nutt singled out the play of offensive line reserves Bradley Sowell (left tackle), Brandon Green (C) and Rishaw Johnson (G) as guys who are emerging as key backups. … Special teams was also a focus of the practice, and Nutt mentioned Johnson, as well as backups George Helow, Reggie Hicks, and LaDerrick Vaughn as players who could impact on special teams. … No new injuries to report today.
