FOOTBALL: Laurent’s take on Peria Jerry

Ted Laurent is a defensive tackle, not a trainer. However, the fact that he is recovering from a very similar type of surgery that senior tackle Peria Jerry, an All-SEC candidate, had earlier this week may give him some insight into what the recovery period is like.

“He says he feels way better than I did. He told me he can bend his leg and all that. My first week I couldn’t do that. I don’t know when he’ll be back, but it should be soon. We need him,” Laurent said.

Recovery time is different for different players, but if Jerry has good range of motion early in the rehab process that’s a good sign.

Did Peria not have medial menicus surgery where Ted had Lateral Menicus Surgery? Just curious, I had been told Peria’s problem was with his Medial Menicus which is not as serious as a Lateral Menicus problem. Big words for me, I’m no doctor….

AGR, I think you’re right. Peria did have a team in the medial meniscus. I’m not very schooled on my medial vs. my lateral. The similarity is in the procedure, I gues, not necessarily the injury.

Houston said yesterday he thought Peria might be back for the SEC, which begins Sept. 20 against Vanderbilt. No need to rush back for Samford on Sept. 13.

Hey PA, any update on Hardy

True, the South Carolina game seems to be the consensus for him. That’s just a guess.
