FOOTBALL: Peria Jerry honored

Ole Miss’ 23-17 loss to Vanderbilt produced two SEC players of the week.
Commodores safety Ryan Hamilton was the overall defensive player of the week. Hamilton snared three of Jevan Snead’s four interceptions. He also recovered a fumble and had the tackle of Cordera Eason on fourth-and-goal from the VU 1 in the third quarter. Hamilton had six tackles overall, four of them solos.
Ole Miss’ Peria Jerry was named the defensive lineman of the week.
Jerry, showing no effects from his August arthroscopic knee surgery, had six tackles, 2 1/2 for loss and a forced fumble, which he recovered and returned 13 yards for a touchdown.
