FIRST QUARTER

Rebels complete passes off the bat for 21 and 11 yards against SC’s backup cornerback. All-SEC candidate Captain Munnerlyn did not start but is expected to play.

Rebels gain 14 on an end around by Wallace.

Snead scrambles for 8 and fumbles out of bounds. Rebels at the SC 20 now with third-and-2.

McCluster’s Wild Rebel run off right tackle gets to the 8. First down.

Eason on a burst up the middle for 8 yards and a touchdown. Huge hole in the middle. There was so much space I’m wondering if there was an assignment bust by SC.

Munnerlyn got on the field at the end of the 8-play, 76-yard drive that took 3:05 off the clock.

Ole Miss 7, SC 0

Looks like Carolina has hit Ole Miss with some good runs for where the Rebels have been position on defense relative to pressure packages.

Gamecocks are at the Ole Miss 23 now. An 18-yard completion is under review. Ruling on the field is confirmed. First down South Carolina.

This drive began at the SC 32.

Fon Ingram is in the game, his first action since the DUI following the Samford game.

Third-and-7 at the 20 now.

Ingram sacks Smelley on a blitz for a 5-yard loss.

SC 48-yard field goal attempt is good. Ryan Succop is one of the SEC’s best kickers. I just didn’t have time to type it before the kick.

Gamecocks cover 38 yards in 11 plays and 5:09.

Ole Miss 7, SC 3

Rebels have moved to the Carolina 16 where they face third-and-3. They just called time out with 3:21 left in the period.

The drive began at the 28, where Shay Hodge was out of bounds when he caught the ball and a 15-yard gain was wiped out.

Drive has included a 29-yard pass to a wide open McCluster in the middle of the field on second down from the 28.

On second down from the 40 McCluster had a catch for a 6-yard gain. What made it notable was the vicious hit he took from free safety Darian Stewart and still held on to the ball.

Later McCluster ran 11 yards up the middle from the Wild Rebel on third-and-1 from the 23.

On third-and-3 from the 16 Bolden took a pitch at right end and gained 5 yards to the 11.

Rebels with third-and-4 from the 5.

McCluster from Wild Rebel goes up the middle to the end zone. Same play he ran against Vanderbilt except without the fumble.

11 plays, 72 yards, 4:57.

Ole Miss 14, South Carolina 3 with 1:49 left in the first.

I think the letdown question has been answered, at least on the offensive side. Hopefully the Rebels can maintain this intensity against South Carolina adjustments. They will come. Right now McCluster is eating them alive.

Gamecocks had a third-and-9 from the 30. The tight end Cook, Jason Cook’s brother, got open in zone coverage and took it to the 7. Play covered 63 yards.

First down at the Ole Miss 7.

Longest pass of the season for SC.

After a false start, the Gamecocks are back at the 12 with first-and-goal as the first quarter ends.

PA, who led the hotty toddy today? Watching the game on espn gameplan. 2nd quarter isn’t looking too good.

Some country singers. Not sure who. We don’t hear the outside from inside too well, and they don’t do a good job of pointing out things like that.

On the web at espn360.com the picture quality is great. Have to listen to the USC broadcast instead of my old buddy David K., but it is a great way to watch the game.
