FYI: In Birmingham for Hoops

Brad was over here today for the first day of SEC basketball media days. Ole Miss is on tomorrow. If you have a question for Andy Kennedy, leave it below. I’ll try to pick three and ask.

I listened to Paul Finebaum’s radio show on the drive over, and he had an interesting interview with ousted Auburn offensive coordinator Tony Franklin. It appears Franklin is about to make the media tour. He gave a lot of insight into how things are run in the Auburn program. Franklin accepted part of the blame for what happened, and he was very careful with his comments.

With Curtis and Williams gone to graduation, there is obviously going to be some leadership opportunities for some of the younger guys, especially in the backcourt where you traditionally see leadership skilled players. How do you feel about the leadership & maturation of the key contributors from last year to this year?
Curtis & Williams were both huge presences on the block last year. With your style of play, obviously we will feel the loss, however, do the returning personnel fit a little bit better into what you’d like to accomplish as far as tempo?

Thanks PA. Let us know which ones you go with.

Coach K, are you in favor of expanding the coliseum’s seating down to the courtsides? (similar to Duke’s Cameron stadium)

PA, to respond to your earlier question about the headers, I’ll be happy to get you a basketball themed one going. I’ll start working on it and get it to you towards the end of football season. I’d really like to make this one more professional looking.

And for the Coach K question, we all expect Malcolm White to step in and fill the void left at the post, but last year he really showed he had a long way to go in filling the forward/center position to a point where we could really count on him like we could big Kenny and DC. How do you see his progression coming along so far, and is he to a point now to where he can carry the main load as our key post player?
