HOOPS: Kennedy’s three questions

We finished a short teleconference with Ole Miss coached Andy Kennedy and Renee Ladner a few minutes ago.

Here’s what Kennedy had to say regarding some questions that were left on the post below. On 03’s question on extending the floor seating, there will be additional floor seating this year as they have built a press area up in the stands.

  1. Matt’s question regarding personnel and Kennedy’s preferred tempo:
  2. “Of our five post players only Malcolm White has played in a Division I game, but they’re going to learn. We feel like we have a number of different options. Kevin Cantinol is a redshirt freshman who’s been in our program going on two years now. We’re familiar with him, and he gives us a big, physical presence. We’ve added another big body in Deaundre Cranston, a junior college transfer. He has the skill set to shoot the 3, but he’s a below the rim angles guy in the mode of DC (Dwayne Curtis). Then we have three thinner guys in Malcolm, Terrence Henry and Murphy Holloway, who can face up and shoot the 3, and that’s a skill set we’ve not had in the last two years.

  3. Oxford Rebel’s question on Malcolm White’s progress:
  4. “Malcolm has made tremendous strides. He’s shown great leadership and has made marked improvement across the board. He’s given tremendous effort, and his attitude has been tremendous.

  5. Matt’s question on leadership:

“Chris Warren is a natural leader, and he’s grown by leaps and bounds. He’s much more vocal than he was last year. He’s starting to take more ownership in this team, which is something we’ve challenged him to do. I think the leadership will come from him and from Eniel Polynice.”
