    They deserve more than a mere 5 points. They beat the #2 team in the nation in swampland and played Tide #1 on even terms in tideland. I still don’t think the Bama is a #1, or they didn’t look like it last evening against Mississippi State.

    PA…who is it that does the voting for the AP poll? i know how the coaches poll works, but i never figured out who actually casts the votes for the AP top 25…..

    Mississippi gets one vote, and it is spread around the state to various newspapers. I voted last year. We used to get two votes, but they cut us back. Don’t know why they cut us.

    This year’s Mississippi voter is Jim Mashek of the Sun Herald.

    Anyway, I forget exactly how many voters are on the board, but it’s one or more from each state, plus a number of national outlets.
