HOOPS: Settled in at Tad Smith; Polynice done

Tipoff is 7 p.m. against South Alabama. Look for Zach Graham to play a lot more in the absence of Eniel Polynice (knee). The Jags are a junior-senior club. They went 26-7 last year and received an at-large bid to the NCAAs. This one isn’t a gimme.

Polynice had surgery Tuesday. Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy was hopeful the junior guard would miss only several weeks.

He becomes the second member in two weeks of what had been a deep backcourt to be lost for the season.

It will be harder for the Rebels to absorb the loss of Polynice, their best lock-down defender, than it had been Trevor Gaskins, who was the fourth guard in the rotation. Now Gaskins’ loss looms larger.

just heard on the radio that EP will be out for the entire season after surgery this season. This is a huge blow for the rebels, because he was a leader and our best defender on the team by far. I guess Terrico White must grow up in a hurry, and our backcourt gets thin in a hurry. PA, do you think that Holloway could possibly be a player who could get some time at the 3 and put Huertas at the 2? because if not then all we have is Warren, Terrico White, Bogan, Huertas, and Graham. Also, have you heard anything about what the feel is after the team found this out tonight. I sure hope we get the win tonight with a good team coming in and now a short bench. I am real nervous now

    Whatever happened to Terrence Watson?

  3. djrebel Says:

Jon, Watson transferred after last season. With the style they played he wasn’t big enough to get minutes in the frontcourt and was not a good enough ball-handler to play guard. He wasn’t happy with the way things worked out.
