HOOPS: Enter Cantinol

The search for a rebounding presence has turned to redshirt freshman Kevin Cantinol. He had eight points on 4-for-4 shooting and four rebounds at New Orleans Saturday.

Here’s what Andy Kennedy had to say about him Tuesday.

“Chief’s been the one guy that honestly has not been given game time opportunities. A lot of that is based on what we see in practice, but out of desperation he got that opportunity Saturday, and he responded. He’ll continue to get those opportunities. He gave us great minutes, gave us energy. He gives us a presence. He’s a big kid if he’ll play big. His problem is he’s not been playing big.”

Freshman Kevin Cantinol sounds like good news for the Rebels.

Anything to a rumor that Miss State may set out next season in football, just to give things a chance for a cool down period.

i watched most of the game against new orleans streaming on the internet….i was really impressed with cantinol’s play. i was wondering why he was in there so much at first…..i had missed the first parts of the game and figured mac or murph got in some early foul trouble. he made the most of his minutes, though…..and at times he seemed like the only person who could get us any points.

hey PA, it would make for some really good story material if cantinol came out of nowhere and became that third scorer the team has been needing. aside from sports, i hope you have been well. thanks for all the good reporting.

Thanks Jay. If Cantinol emerges it would make for a great Christmas present for Ole Miss basketball.
