HOOPS: Women open SEC’s confident

The Ole Miss (11-4) women feel like they’re on a bit of a roll going into tomorrow night’s SEC opener against Georgia (9-5).

Ole Miss has won three straight.

“We’re happy with where we are right now because of the way we’ve played the last three games. We’re finding out what kind of team we are. We’re working within that, and that’s what’s helping us get the wins,” said senior center Shawn Goff, who leads the team in scoring (14.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.7 rpg).

What kind of team are the Rebels?

“We’re a scrappy, intense team, and our intensity and effort has been amazing the last three games.”

Goff is the second-leading scorer in the SEC.

Scrappy and intense shows itself most in rebounding where Ole Miss is tied for the SEC lead with a plus-8.9 margin.

Rebounds will be important against Georgia, which is second in the league in scoring defense and third in field goal defense.
