FOOTBALL: Bo Tillman update

The Ole Miss Spirit reports this morning, confirming Oxford Rebel’s post below, that a noon deadline has been set by Bo Tillman’s representatives for the school to admit the prospect, or he will play elsewhere. Tillman is the brother of rising senior defensive end Marcus Tillman.

Wow, not the news I wanted to see on a Friday morning. This kid is a stud! He can play both sides of the ball. We are completely screwing ourselves if we lose him!

  2. Charles Says:

PA, will you please go over to Pete’s office and cuss him out for me?

  3. Tyler-for-Heisman Says:

I don’t understand what the problem is. Is he another partial Qualifier like Powe?

  4. djrebel Says:

My understanding is Tillman will have to be released by Southern Miss from the letter of intent he signed with them last year before he can enroll at Ole Miss and than the family is petitioning the Southern Miss administration right now.

  5. Charles Says:

Somebody posted this link on another site….

Seems to be saying it is only binding for a year from when signed. Aren’t scholly’s renewed on a yearly basis. I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t know any of this for sure. There is a lot about this situation I don’t know, but it sure is frustrating to hear that he may look at UT of all places if we can’t get him in the door.

  6. rebel steve Says:

The ole miss people need to get busy.

  7. Shorty Says:

The boy may be a good football player, but he is dumb as dirt. If ole miss can keep powe eligible, they can keep tillman.

  8. L2 Says:

2 hours 46 minutes left! Get after it admin people!

  9. m4rebs Says:

This is probably being blown out of proportion. If we can admit him till his letter of intent is released by USM, then neither can UT, right? So I don’t see what the issue is. Why did he committ to USM anyway? If his brother is at UM and will still be at UM, wonder what the deal was with him wanting to go elsewhere. I didn’t like my brother much when I was younger, but I’d still want to live in the same town and play on the same sandlot as him, even nowadays.

  10. m4rebs Says:

One other note, if that article is accurate, once someone signs his letter of intent, then all schools MUST STOP recruiting that player. Does this mean us and UT are in volation since we both are NLI Members?

  11. m4rebs Says:

I looked up his signing date, and it is 2/1/2008. One other item of note, he is listed as an Offensive Tackle.

  12. Charles Says:

He probably went to USM because it is easier to qualify academically than SEC schools from what I hear. He would be a beast at OL or DL. If we don’t sign Massie, I could easily see him playing OL.

No word on anything yet PA?

  13. Ackermanrebel Says:

  14. david Says:

sounds like frank wilson is pulling some strings at usm. I hope he gets in, what does ti matter to USM Ole Miss will never play them. It wouldnt be a game. We would have subs playing by the 3rd quarter.

  15. ColoradoReb Says:

Someone start a fire Boone website. Nutt is up in the main office jumping up and down right now. He and Petey have had a bad falling out this morning. Looks like Tillman is gone from what I hear. Unless Nutt can convince him to calm down and hang tight.

  16. Tyler-for-Heisman Says:

I think this is a testimate to how far we’ve come and how far UT & Auburn have fallen in the recent years. You hardly ever heard about us swaping recriuts with these schools in the past. They are usually recriuting a whole different level of talent. Looks like we have close the gap. Maybe next year we can steals some guys away from Forida and LSU.

  17. ColoradoReb Says:

David, I’ve never seen OM play Southern but my dad said the reason State and OM don’t play them is because they would beat the h$$$ out of us. I don’t know if today it would be the same deal but there is some reason OM and State don’t play them. Tillman’s brother is trying to get him to stay. The coaches have had a very heated exchange with the admin this morning before it was established that USM must release the kid before they can admit him. This is nobody’s fault but Tillmans. It should have been done weeks ago but he didn’t make the request to USM. They can take their time with the papers and this is where Wilson may be involved. Someone find this kid and take him to lunch and get some calm before its too late.

  18. rebel2011 Says:

Everyone needs to calm down on the whole situation, both with Tillman and with Boone. I am sure that our Athletic Department knows whats going on and are handling it the way they are supposed to. They are not stupid.

  19. ColoradoReb Says:

2011 the whole thing is this is really Bo’s fault because he never has petitioned USM for a release and that had to be done by him and him alone. The admin is trying to help but its gonna take a little bit to get it done. There is no way anyone will meet a noon deadline. I agree that the admin is smart because some of my family works there and I know she’s smart. I would have to disagree on PB though. I just think its time for him to retire. He has done a lot of good and a lot of bad for the programs but I do think he is a true Rebel. Can’t wait to see the Rebel Baseball team on the field by the way. My boys still wear their custom fit Zack red shirts autographed. Is Jo-Jo still at OM? He gave my boy some batting gloves and a letter back in the day. The baseball boys are sure heros for all the young kids. They set good examples for our kids to follow and its hard to find that in sports today.

  20. ColoradoReb Says:

Didn’t mean to change subjects 2011 but just saw your aviator.

  21. david Says:

I am jsut saying if he ends up at UT then its Frank wilson pulling the puppet strings at USM. I doubt USM would beat state or Ole miss. I am sorry the SEC is a whole nother world. I mean if Tech cant beat Ole Miss what makes anyone so sure USM will. I am sorry USM will never be more than a CUSA runner up. They cant compete. I am sorry it will never happen.

  22. djrebel Says:

I’m hearing Tillman will enroll in the summer and be eligible in the fall. Situation may still be developing, but that appears to be where it’s headed.

  23. david Says:

to ole miss pa? sorry if that seems like a dumb question

  24. rebel2011 Says:

I agree that it was bo’s responsibility and so can’t he wait until sometime next week and that year would be over? Also I am ready for the diamond too. Maybe this will finally be our year. My only concern at this point is consistency from starting pitching because we have a strong lineup and a bullpen to due for.

  25. rebel2011 Says:

David that is not a dumb question

  26. rebel2011 Says:

David that is not a dumb question unless both of us are dumb because I am wondering the same thing. as long as he signs on wednesday he is ours

  27. Ackermanrebel Says:

ut started that deadline crap not bo o and wilson are out for blood they are playing real dirty right now beware recruits they are telling you just what they think you want to hear be careful with these guys they are deperate to perform with those saleries they pulled.

  28. Ackermanrebel Says:

We need our players that were recruited by O to talk to some of these guys about what happens when you arrive to play for him i have heard alot of horror stories from some of these players.

  29. david Says:

i know they do….he was a nutt job and tehy are going to do whatever they can to say there blown up paychecks

  30. Ackermanrebel Says:

Mason,Massie,Cotton and Paterson will soon be rebels Brown will not also there will be one big surprise for us on wed so get ready its good!!!

  31. oxfordrebel Says:

Massie won’t be a Rebel, he’s going to Bammer.

  32. Ackermanrebel Says:

    just hide and watch

  33. rebelt Says:

Dude, he’s right we got massie

  34. Charles Says:

Cleary something is screwed up in Oxford. If UT is able to admit Tillman, then we sure as hell should be able to.

  35. david Says:

I heard we just lost washington at auburn,

  36. Charles Says:

One of my AU friends sent me a message this morning saying that we are losing him. They are telling Washington that he can start at DB.

  37. Charles Says:

Plus, I think he’s friends with Eltorro Freeman, who he went to JC with. Eltorro is an LB commit at Auburn. Washington is from Alabama also. It’s a shame we’re losing him, because his highlight video on youtube is nasty. We don’t really need him at RB, but could probably used him on defense next year.

  38. djrebel Says:

Guys, I was hearing Tillman to enroll at Ole Miss in the summer. Sorry for the confusion. Been out running errands and such.

    — PA

  39. david Says:

thats fine let him go, like nutt said he wants someone who isnt going to back off his word. We’ll just let Mr. Snead introduce himself to mr washington and the sec qb skills.

  41. rebel2011 Says:

i am sure that a lot of these recruits are getting pressured so much and told so many different things by so many different people that they don’t know who to believe and who not to believe. Than being said, a recruit should not commit to a school unless he is going to sign with them. He should then not answer any calls from other coaches and if they do then they should tell the coach that I am committed to another school and am not interested in attending your school.

  42. rebel2011 Says:

Charles, I heard that Washington said that the thing he didnt like about Auburn is that they wanted him to play defense only and that he didnt want to play defense, that he just did this season to help out the team. If that is true then I don’t know why he would go to play a position he doesn’t want to.

  43. Charles Says:

2011 I’m not really sure what to make of the Washington situation. I don’t know if he’s made a decision of which school to attend for sure yet or not. A friend of mine who went to AU and is a football junkie said they feel really good about getting him and that they offered him at DB.

I think our coaches are probably telling him that he can have a shot at offense, but I don’t know where he would fit. I guess he could take over Dexter’s role next year. Homeboy runs a 4.3 forty yard dash. I think that is probably faster than any other RB we have. Enrique is around 4.4. There should be a pretty good battle at DB next year with James Scott becoming eligible, and Tig maybe signing.

  44. rebel2011 Says:

I agree. I just saw on Scout that Pat Patterson is visiting Miss. State this weekend instead of Tennessee. This is probably not good news for us because he had eliminated them and now has added them into the mix again. They obviously have gained on him a lot, lets just hope that they have not gained on him too much. That would be bad if we didnt get him because he went to that other school

  45. JB Says:

I don’t think all the attention at this time should be focussed on some Iffy football prospect, when Ole Miss is starting to make a run in SEC basketball play. I believe if they can repeat performance remainder of season as they did against Kentucky on Tuesday they can finish off a very good season. Thoughts are, they can take Miss State twice,Ark,Bama,Aub twice,Tenn,Ga, and vandy, maybe LSU. They need Ole Miss fan support not hearing about iffy football players. GO REBELS!!!

  46. rebel2011 Says:

JB didn’t you just name every one of the games left on the schedule?

  47. rebel2011 Says:

Ok I just saw on inside the grove that patterson is not going to tennessee this weekend and has changed his mind and is most likely not going to starkville either. He said that Mississippi state was not a finalist he was just going to go with Deontae Skinner. He also said that he will choose between ole miss usm and bama. Gotta like our chances if he cancelled his last visit. Seems like he has probably made up his mind now and is just waiting to announce.

  48. RoastBeef1 Says:

haha, I love how you guys jump on someone breaking their commitment. We’re trying to steal guys from schools right now but holy cow, if another school does it to us then it’s chaos. Get a grip. Sure, I don’t like seeing people back out of commitments, but it happens to every school. And for the ones saying “Fine, we don’t need him”, please don’t be acting high and mighty. Someone of his skills is always needed.

  49. redstickrebel Says:

These players who jerk u around now will do it later. I respect the guys that say they have informed the school but will not announce till signing day. But to be a Joe McKnight and leave LSU in the mix when his relatives have said he was going to USC all along. I know he kept Ole Miss’s name in there too but that was out of respect for Frank Wilson LA. native. LSU didn’t really know. And guess what if McKnight had gone to his home state school LSU he would have a national title under his belt. I not a bleeding heart for LSU I’m just using that as a example. Pat Patterson should let the school know he doesn’t have to tell the world.

  50. JB Says:

2011, I thinks that the Rebs can handle business, if they play with the determination and aggressiveness as they did against the Wildcats. Don’t think that I have ever seen an Ole Miss basketball some of these guys were not even starters at the beginning of the season. They have matured. Coach Kennedy and staff deserves appreciation for the basketball program that they are building at Ole Miss.

As your avatar depicts, looking forward in a few days to Rebel baseball. I believe that this could be their season based on experienced level of talent to make the trip to Omaha.

  51. redstickrebel Says:

Where is Ryan Perrilloux? Still in college at Jacksonville State. If he behaved at LSU he would be sitting pretty. He jerked Texas around.

  52. ColoradoReb Says:

Auburn couldn’t get our coaches so they want the next best thing, our recruits. I am ready for college sports to change before it gets like the NFL, Pro baseball, and basketball and nobody really has any loyalty. There is no one for kids to look up to because they’re out for themselves and I don’t mean players. Its the institutions that have caused this and the institutions who need to fix it. We need salary caps and term limits on politicians and coaches. We need people to step up and be a hero for young people. That’s one of many positives I can say about Bianco. He keeps his players out of trouble and grounded. All of them are people I would like my boys to mirror. If they don’t follow his rules, they are gone. I hope he stays at OM until he gets ready to retire. A true man of integrity and a great leader.

  53. JB Says:

Colorado, I fully agree with you on Coach Bianco. A good coach and family man.

  54. m4rebs Says:

Perrilose is still at Jacksonville State. They may have transferred him to the Talladega State Pen by now though. That dude has trouble written all over him. Kinda like Jamar Hornsby, in my opinion.

  55. oxfordrebel Says:

If we pull massie, i’ll post a link to a picture of myself with a dirty sock in my mouth.

No way on earth he’s coming, he’s a Bammer all the way, it was them and UGA, but he canceled UGA, so it’s Bama.

Wait and see children, wait and see.

I do however, see us pulling Patterson and Cotton. I kinda think that Hornsby may go to UT, but I’m like m4, I think we’re just asking for trouble out of him. It would also be nice to pull Mason and Alex Williams, that would definetely round out the class. And Marry too, need that LB.

  56. destineagle Says:

everyone seems to think that Ole Miss and State would kill USM. At the moment, and only now, Ole Miss might. Before this past year it would be anyones game. As for State, good D but no offense…. lost to a weak La Tech and nearly lost at home to Middle Tennessee last year…much less USM. These games should be played against each other, but I understand the SEC is tough and Ole Miss and State would rather play patsies (for the non-SEC part) than deal with losing to USM.
In my days at school (early 1980s) we always beat State and Ole Miss…and they were in the SEC then too. We even beat Ole Miss when they were #1 in the country when Archie Manning was there….
