Andy Kennedy press conference leftovers. Here’s what the Rebels’ coach had to say …
On Malcolm White: I thought Mac was a little lethargic early. We got in foul trouble. Everybody’s different, but you don’t want to go into the locker room with three fouls to any of your key guys, and we seemed to have two across the board. When Mac picked up his second it got him out of rhythm, then he picked up his third and fourth back-to-back. I had to sit him, and he never got into a flow, but he made some huge plays for us at the end.
On the remainder of the season: “Our whole focus is just trying to get better. I don’t know what’s left in these guys. I do think we got a pretty good performance tonight against a quality team, and I still think we’ve got a long way to go, a lot of areas we can improve from a number of different players. We left a lot of plays on the floor. That tells me we can still improve, and if we do, hopefully, we can get some more (wins).”
On the team’s effort: “That’s what we have to do to beat a team of Tennessee’s caliber. We call them 50-50 balls. We have to get the 50-50 balls. We’ve got to get on the floor, come up with loose balls and give extra effort.”
