I understand the weather outside is frightful, but this place is pretty empty. There might be 50 people in the student section right now, and the videographer for Raycom just came by and shot a handful of students shoulder to shoulder to make it look like the student section was packed.

  2. m4rebs Says:

Do you blame anybody? That’s going to be quality basketball in the Pad today PA. Maybe everybody is out at the baseball game……hilarious, I know. My wife says I missed my calling…….you thought she’d say the bright lights of comedy, she thinks prison. You got to be able to tell good (& terrible) jokes in prison to keep ’em off of you ya know.

  3. djrebel Says:

Matt, it’s still a football school isn’t it?

  4. rebel2011 Says:

I came home this weekend so I couldn’t make it to either the baseball games or basketball games this weekend, but if I was there today then I would probably have to go to the basketball game just because of the weather but if it were 50 or above i am sure I would be at the baseball game instead.

  5. djrebel Says:

Everybody has to choose, especially those who are buying tickets.

  6. m4rebs Says:

Who, us or them? There’s no debate on them. I don’t think you can call yourself a “football” school until you sellout your place at least 1 full season. We haven’t done that since……ever? Maybe you could find that one out PA. When was the last year Ole Miss sold out an entire season in ANY sport?

  7. djrebel Says:

Got to be a school record length for the Natioanl Anthem. Some ticket-buying fans have started to file in.

Your Ole Miss starters are Malcolm White, Murphy Holloway, Zach Graham, David Huertas and Terrico White.

  8. djrebel Says:

Matt, football can be a “mentality.” Doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve won SEC championships lately.

  9. m4rebs Says:

I agree PA. I think I’ve seen it said best about us, unfortunately. Ole Miss is a drinking school, with a football problem. You can add lots of sports in there today however.

  10. djrebel Says:

Malcolm White has 2 fouls in a minute and a half. He goes to the bench. Tide leads 4-0 at 18:24.

  11. m4rebs Says:

PA, did you read the “Ghosts of Mississippi” article on ESPN.com. Outside the Lines did a thing on the 1962 Ole Miss football team. Pretty good book, I mean read.

  12. rebel2011 Says:

Yeah definitely not a good start in this game either. I mean what is there for me to be excited about right now?

  13. m4rebs Says:

Recruiting 2011. But then again, you can always be excited about recruitting.

  14. djrebel Says:

Rebels haven’t scored a field goal, but Cranston is at the line now. 1-for-2. It’s 4-1 Tide.

  15. djrebel Says:

Huertas hits 2 free throws. Rebels 0 for 3 from the field, trail 6-3.

  16. m4rebs Says:

PA, did you hear anymore about the hollaring that was ongoing down at Beard-Eves on Wednesday night? Did Kennedy discuss any of it in the postgame stuff?

  17. djrebel Says:

Time out at 15:46. Alabama is 2-for-6 from the field, one a falling down bank shot off balance from JaMychal Green. Tide leads 6-3 and has ball possession when play resumes.

  18. djrebel Says:

Kennedy says he’s used to it, calls it inexperience. The players downplayed it, but it wasn’t anything “uplifting” from teammate to teammate.

  19. m4rebs Says:

That doesn’t have anything to do with inexperience as you well know. It has something to do with respecting each other and playing with “One Heartbeat.”

  20. m4rebs Says:

Cranston just hit Green with a Tomahawk chop, and acting like he had all ball and it need to be a jump. He hasn’t gotten away with 1 call this year, does he think it’s going to change 30 games into it?

  21. djrebel Says:

Rebels have 4 fouls, at least three of them committed after Alabama got an offensive rebound. Tide leads 8-5 after a 17-foot j from Huertas.

  22. m4rebs Says:

    I like Hollaway.

  23. djrebel Says:

Bama’s Gee just picked up his second fould and goes to the bench. Tide leads 9-7 after Hollowahy put-back.

  24. djrebel Says:

Hillman is dropping a sholder into Huertas, trying to get him off track. Got called for a foul the second time.

Ole Miss just missed 3 shots while Bama had only 4 players on the floor.

  25. djrebel Says:

Terrico just dropped in a 3 that was too long but stuck in the back of the rim and fell in. Bama calls time at 11:43 and leads 13-12. Rebels are 4-for-13 from the floor, Tide 4-for-12.

  26. m4rebs Says:

I’m going to go slam my finger in a door to make me feel better. After the baseball team faded today and not being able to score against 4 guys, it’s a pretty tough day for Ole Miss sports.

Has the attendance improved any at the Pad PA?

  27. djrebel Says:

Bama getting back in transitiion. Tide leads 18-15 at 9:45.

  28. m4rebs Says:

What was the call at the under 8 timeout? Foul on Ole Miss???

  29. djrebel Says:

Time out at 7:59. Alabama leads 20-19. Rebels have scored four straight, Graham with a jump stop in the lane and Malcolm White, playing with two fouls, with a 10-footer. Ole Miss at the free throw line when play resumes.

  30. m4rebs Says:

Too much Irish Cream in Tom Hammond’s drink this afternoon.

  31. djrebel Says:

Time at 5:23. Former ICC star Anthony Brock just nailed his third 3-pointer, this one from deep left win. Ole Miss held a short 24-23 lead but now trails 32-26.

  32. djrebel Says:

2 straight tunovers for Ole Miss and the Tide lead is 34-26. Brock has 11 points.

  33. djrebel Says:

Bama leads 38-28 at 3:01. Tide is all over the offensive glass while the Rebels are no where to be seen there. Alabama is doing all of this with Gee on the bench, so he’ll be fresh for the second half.

  34. djrebel Says:

After Ole Miss a brief 24-23 lead Alabama closed with a 26-9 run with Gee on the bench. Rebels got out of sync and everything Alabama did worked. Tide was knocking down 3s left and right. Not much from Torrance till the last couple of minutes and he knocks in 2 3s. 4 3s in the half and 14 points for Brock. Rebels down 49-33.

  35. rebel2011 Says:

What in the world has happened to the Rebels today? They are just playing awful basketball. Alabama only had 13 points with 11 minutes to go and we let them score 36 points in 11 minutes? Thats just awful.

  36. pBeez Says:

Oh wow, what a terrible finish to the half. The wheels just came off, and Bama caught fire. Lets hope they cool off in the locker room and that AK lights a fire under our boys.

  37. djrebel Says:

    Halftime Numbers:
Alabama shooting 50 percent from the floor, 50 from 3 at 7-for-14.

Ole Miss 41.4 percent and 3-for-12 (25 percent) from 3.

Brock has 14 points in 11 minutes. 5-for-6 from the floor, 4-for-5 from 3.

Terrico White leads Ole Miss with 13 points, 5-for-9 from the floor, 2-for-5 from 3.

Bama is winning big on the boards, 23-14. Only 8 offensive rebounds, seems like more.

  38. djrebel Says:

Matt, attendance has improved, but it sounds like nobody’s here. Hard to fault the fans for that. Not much to cheer for right now.

  39. rebel2011 Says:

I think we will be able to tell in the first 3 minutes of the half whether this team has given up yet or not.

  40. djrebel Says:

Alabama is having its way with Ole Miss on the offensive end. Tide leads 57-40.

  41. djrebel Says:

Trying to cut into a 16-point halftime deficit, Ole Miss has not recorded a defensive stop this half. Alabama has scored on each of five trips.

  42. John Burrows Says:

Go over to the table sbd interview Deuce. That will make a much more entertaining story than this game.

  43. djrebel Says:

Rebels have reverted to the Terrico, David or nothing offense. Time outat 14:39. Rebels can’t stop the Tide and trail 62-44. There’s effort on offense, but it’s Terrico trying to create or looking for David. Little else. This team doesn’t have a back-to-the-basket post player and doesn’t try to get it inside to the post players it does have.

    — PA

  44. djrebel Says:

Rebels call time out at 12:50. The only thing that could stop the bleeding. Bama’s Steele hits a floater and is fouled by Terrico. Steele misses the free throw, but Bama rebounds, kicks out to Brock for a 3.

Rebels getting their clocks cleaned in a fashion reminiscent of the LSU loss here early in SEC play. Looks like that magical run, team playing hard getting better is over … or at least suspended for the time being.

    Bama 69-45.

  45. djrebel Says:

Gentry Estes of Mobile reminds us that Alabama had lost 18 consecutive SEC road games going back to LSU in 2007. Gee just scored with a hand in his face, and I’m projecting Alabama a winner today. Tide leads 71-45 at 11:37.

  46. farley662 Says:

What’s the plan if you get snowed in PA?

  47. djrebel Says:

Bunk with you Farley. That sounds like an invitation.

  48. farley662 Says:

Come on. Making grilled chicken, squash, and baked taters. Live about a mile and a half from the Pad.

  49. djrebel Says:

Folks it’s 81-53 with 7:58 left, and I’m going to begin work on the gamer. I’ll check back here if it gets to be around a 15-point deficit.

  50. m4rebs Says:

    Pitiful. PERIOD.

  51. djrebel Says:

Sounds good Farley. You giving up grease for lent?

  52. farley662 Says:

On a diet. And I gave up red meat and alcohol for lent.

  53. JB Says:

Not a good day for Mississippi College Basketball teams.

  54. mathistondawg Says:

Please don’t hammer me, I came over to check your posts, our side with brad locke is empty – like nobody even cares anymore. It looks like nobody is blogging over here either. We got FL and then you guys – good luck, although, we probably need it. You are right JB, sad day indeed for our teams.

  55. JB Says:

mathistondawg , I don’t think anyone over here would hammer you. I am nobody and have nothing to do with this site, other than as a Rebel fan to read the reports and post sometimes. As far as I am concerned, you can come over anytime you choose.

Now, it off to church for me.
