FOOTBALL: Regarding Colorado

As Ole Miss continues in search of a 12th football game I spoke with a beat writer who covers Colorado, who said the Buffs are also in need of a game with a sudden opening on their schedule, but an Ole Miss official told me yesterday that there are no on-going negotiations between the two schools. He didn’t indicate that would change. I believe both schools are looking for a home game.

    Any truth to that?

PA, there were some good posts earlier that showed why Colorado may not be an option. Some garbage about ESPN contract and a game in Ohio, regardless of the specific school. They were originally scheduled to play at Miami (OH) on Friday night, Sept 11th on ESPN, however, Miami (OH) got out of the deal to play UK. Toledo is rumored to pick up Colorado to fulfill that crazy contract, but that would force them to drop Boise St. (reference ackerman’s below).

Haven’t heard anything on Boise State. Got back in town about 2 and have made some progress on the honey-do list. When you’re gone a week that thing gets long.

Lot’s of Boise rumors. I know they need an away game this year, but I’m skeptical about giving them a home and home. I just don’t like the idea of playing on that blue turf. I feel like it gives them an advantage, because their uniforms match the field. I wouldn’t be suprised if it makes it just a little harder for our players to find the ball. I could be wrong, but all it takes is a split second to make a difference in getting an edge on someone.

I guess Nutt would know better than any of us, since he coached there. I’m sure the AD’s office will take his advice on this one.
